Google VS OpenAI battle over AI

After watching OpenAI Devday and Google's Gemini launch, it's clear the tech giants are aggressively pushing their AI capabilities. Here are few insights I gained after studying this battle :

  1. Google developed it's own version of ChatGPT way before OpenAI but never released it due to safety concerns. It's launch would have given Google a big upper hand.
  2. After OpenAI launched ChatGPT, it's massive success led to Google launching Bard that was taken down after just one day.
  3. Recently, when Google announced Gemini, OpenAI was forced to launch ChatGPT 4 Turbo in order to stay relevant in the market. Turbo has additional features like TTS and DALL-E integration
  4. OpenAI gets massive funds from Microsoft. In the deal, Microsoft provides huge infrastructure to OpenAI, then OpenAI uses this to built its models like DALL-E which Microsoft integrates with its own products like Bing.
  5. Microsoft has its revenue sources spread out in various domains but for Google, its major revenue comes from its search engine(82% market share) and Youtube. So if Bing performs better than Google search engine, the very existence of Google as a company is threatened.
  6. Gemini is Natively multimodel, while OpenAI's ChatGPT is not. This gives Google an upper hand to aggressively expand its AI model to other domains.
  7. Also, OpenAI is a non profit company and can access datasets in public domain. But Google has huge datasets which it gets from it's search engine and Youtube. The Non profit nature of OpenAI prevented it from earning huge profits and could be a big reason behind the recent Sam Altman debacle. Therefore, this battle over AI is on knife's edge. Google Gemini has native multimodel capabilities and better access to huge datasets. OpenAI has the backing of Microsoft and an already popular ChatGPT with additional features like Microsoft marketplace for developers, DALL-E, TTS and ability to quickly create GPTs.But as in every gold rush, the one selling shovels earns the most, NVIDIA is profiting immensely from the sales of its GPUs.This is my understanding of the subject, feel free to correct me or provide additional info. ??
