Google v/s ChatGPT : The Competition Is Really Heating Up!
Technology giant Microsoft is contemplating investment around $10 billion into Sam Altman’s Open AI popular search engine ChatGPT? for 49% stake . As most of the people now know that ChatGPT is AI based search engine which has gained popularity in late 2022 owing to it’s capability to disrupt the search engine industry.
Though this has resulted in worries among executive of search engine giant #google. It seems to be cause of celebration for Seattle based Technology giant #microsoft . As Its CEO Satay Nadella bets in AI seems to be proving correct.
This is not the first ever investment of Microsoft in #openai . In 2019, it has invested $1billion in OpenAI and years following that, it has quietly invested $2 billion more into this company.
Total $3 billion dollar paid to OpenAI has resulted in building?massive of computing power which is much needed by OpenAI ChatGPT. This would also mean that Microsoft has leverage this technology to quickly develop and deploy new products.
In past Microsoft has adopted products namely GPT3 and DALL-E into its products. DALL-E is product which allowed anyone to generate realistic images simply by describing what they want to see. GPT3 also called as “Large Language Model ” can generate text on its own, including tweets, blog posts, news articles and computer code.

The new AI technology has potential to disrupt not only online search engine like Google , it could also replace?digital assistants Alexa, Siri, Google Assistant to name a few. It is prominent way through which Microsoft can improve its wide range of products available for business and its consumers.?It could utilize its #azurecloud set up to boost revenues of cloud computing services as well and would increase its dominance in cloud computing services?as well.
This is Microsoft's another attempt in chatbot after failed attempt of unveiling chatbot namely Tay?which is popularized as “Microsoft’s AI fam from the internet that’s got zero chill”. Tay was meant to mimic the verbal tics of a 19-year-old American girl, provided to the world at large via the messaging platforms Twitter, Kik and GroupMe. The chatbot has failed miserably. The chatbot which users coaxed into regurgitating some seriously offensive language, including pointedly racist and sexist remarks. Microsoft has pulled plug on it with in a day of its launch.
On the other hand Google is not undermining this threat and has started giving focused attention to this threat . Google’s CEO himself has participated in several meetings around Google's AI strategy and has directed numerous groups in the company to refocus their efforts on addressing the threat that?#openai?product?#chatgpt?poses on its?#searchengine?business.
With Microsoft backing openAI the competition is intensifying and its interesting to see whether #google will be able to retain it’s numero uno status as search engine or not.
