When Alphabet announced one year ago (Sept. 2016), that Google Translate, will soon be using algorithm that is entirely based on deep learning, I was really eager to see the improvement. The first results for English-Czech, German-English or German-Czech translations were not convincing for me and many of my friends, that were used to use this brilliant web tool. Well nothing is perfect early after the start.
Now it looks like more people share the doubts even one year after the relaunch. Some of the translations in Jimmy Fallon show are very funny: "Come, come on now, follow my lead" ... translated to: "Please, please chase after my boss". It shows how complicated languages and the interplay between them are. Despite all the Big Data tools we already have by now, machine and deep learning has still long way to go.
Btw - big credits to Jimmy and Miley for singing the translated versions of song. Check the video out, you will love it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QKxaxrxVMsg
