But What is Telehealth ?
Telehealth is characterized as the delivery and facilitation of health and health-related services, including medical care, provider and patient education , health information and self- care services through telecommunications and digital communication technologies. Live video conferencing, mobile health applications, "store and forward" electronic transfer and remote patient monitoring (RPM) are examples of technologies used in the field of telehealth.
According to Google; The behemoth of Silicon Valley and Amwell, headquartered in Boston, jointly revealed their multipronged plans by Aug. 24.
Google Cloud says the investment of $100 M will be contingent on closing the forthcoming IPO for Amwell, which was also revealed this week.
According to the joint announcement, the partnership will allow Amwell (formerly American Well) to optimize and scale its telehealth services for providers, insurers and patients in established and prospective Amwell markets.
Furthermore, the project will aim to improve healthcare procedures for underserved communities while also empowering healthcare professionals to support seniors and patients with chronic conditions "in a radically different way without sacrificing on quality of care or customer confidence."
