What happened? Google CEO Sundar Pichai on Wednesday announced a prototype for a new type of smart glasses that are capable of real-time language translation. The glasses, still in development, would present live translations to the wearer while someone is speaking. This could be a huge breakthrough for people who travel or conduct business abroad. Imagine being able to converse with ease in any foreign country!
Stay Human
Why is this important? The technology is still in development, but it's easy to see how google's new smart glasses could be used to become more human. Language is so important in our everyday life, it enables us to connect to other people and all sources of information!
The new Google AR glasses would present live translations with subtitles to the wearer while someone is speaking. Individuals who travel or conduct business abroad could benefit tremendously from this invention. But it will also assist those who are deaf or have hearing difficulties. Imagine being able to converse with ease in any foreign country! The glasses would allow for easy communication between people of different languages, and help to break down barriers.
Google's new smart glasses could also be used in other ways to help people connect with each other. For example, the glasses could be used to provide live translations of signs and menus for people who are visually impaired. The possibilities are endless!
