Google says it spent $270,000 to close a wage gap for workers in 2017. The tech giant reviewed 89% of its workforce (the remaining 11% includes, among other groups, vice presidents and above, per Bloomberg) and found “statistically significant pay differences” for 228 employees. Google has come under fire for pay discrepancies, most recently from the Labor Department and former employees who filed a class action lawsuit over the pay gap. ? Share your thoughts: #GooglePayGap

A Florida bridge collapse has killed at least six people and injured 10 others. The pedestrian bridge near Florida International University in Miami fell over a roadway on Thursday. Eight vehicles were trapped under the bridge, which was set to open early next year, city officials said. The walkway, which had only been installed last Saturday, weighed 950 tons and was 174 feet long. ? Share your thoughts: #FIUBridgeCollapse

Spotify will become a publicly traded company on April 3. But the music-streaming service isn't selling new shares to raise money, nor has it hired a team of investment bankers to underwrite the shares. Instead it’s opted for an unconventional direct listing; it also skipped the traditional investor roadshow in favor of a one-day presentation, streamed online. SPOT, as it will be listed on the NYSE, was last privately valued at $19 billion and had revenue just shy of $5 billion last year. ? Share your thoughts: #SpotifyListing

Home prices saw their biggest gain in four years in February, rising almost 9%; mortgage rates were also at a four-year high. Average home sale prices in larger cities hit $285,700. The amount of homes for sale fell 11.4% from the previous year, helping to drive up prices — as did the strong job market, which helped introduce more buyers to the market, according to Bloomberg. ? Nike’s No. 2 executive is resigning immediately. Trevor Edwards, Nike’s brand president, was considered a potential successor for CEO Mark Parker. His exit comes the same day as a memo from Parker disclosing complaints of inappropriate workplace behavior, although the nature of the claims and the parties accused were not revealed. Edwards will remain an adviser until August, at which point he will retire. ? Share your thoughts: #TrevorEdwards

Idea of the Day: Setting benchmarks — and focusing too much on competition — may be limiting your company’s success, argues futurist Daniel Burrus. Instead of trying to keep up with the Joneses, think about reinvention.

“You may be inadvertently limiting your success — maybe what you’re benchmarking against isn’t all that spectacular — and you may also continually fall behind as competitors move on to something else.”

While it's good that there is no injustice , seems every day we read or see at least one article if not more about the “pay gap”.

I believe a lack of pay gap will allow everyone to focus on more important issues and improve work quality.

If we can focus on why is ok that a bridge was just built the day before, weigh 950lbs and killed 6 people. Why is that not more secure under a busy road. In that note if you paid the workers fair money, the job would be done proper. Supply and demand!
