Google Will Soon Make Scanning QR Codes Much Easier for Android Users

We have all encountered difficulties when attempting to scan a QR code that is placed far away. Maybe you're in a bustling marketplace and you cannot reach the code or perhaps, it is on the other side of the room from where you are standing. Google has been working on a new feature that should address this issue - with their Code Scanner API on Android, they hope to introduce an auto-zoom function for scanning QR codes at a distance.

GoogleCode Scanner's functionality will make use of Machine Learning with processing only occurring on your device. Ultimately ensuring user privacy and protecting data by not storing results or image information. The advantage of this new auto-zoom feature is that it will be available in more than just Google's own QR Code Scanner application, allowing developers to incorporate this without needing camera permissions as well.
