Google To Shut Down Business Profile Chat Feature (Google Update)

"As of July 31, 2024, Google will cease support for call history and chat features. Take action now to download your history before it's gone."

Google has sent various types of emails to businesses regarding the upcoming changes to their chat and call history features. Here’s what the email said:

"We want to inform you that Google’s chat and call history features in Google Business Profile will be discontinued on July 31, 2024. We understand this may be challenging news, but as we continually enhance our tools, we sometimes need to make tough decisions that can affect the businesses and partners we collaborate with. Our goal is to remain a valuable partner as you manage your business, and we are committed to this mission."

Key dates to note:

• July 15, 2024: Searchers will no longer be able to start new chat conversations with your business from Google Maps or Google Search. However, those already in existing chat conversations will be notified about the phase-out of the chat feature.
• July 31, 2024: The chat functionality in Google Business Profile will be completely discontinued. You will no longer receive new chat messages and will also lose access to your call history in Google Business Profile.

Downloading history: You can download your chat and call history from Google Business Profiles for your records before Google eventually deletes this data.

Why this matters: If you have been using these features for your business, be aware that they will soon be unavailable. Make sure to download your chat and call history before the deadline so you can archive this information in your CRM software and databases.
