Google Search Indexing Issue; LendingKart Raises $30 Mn & More
- Google Search is having trouble showing the latest articles to users around the world, including in India. While Google said it is aware of the reports of indexing issues and is working to fix the issues, many publishers complained about low traffic and news stories not coming up on Google even after a targeted search.
- The central government think tank NITI Aayog under its Women Entrepreneurship Platform, along with the United Nations, has launched the fourth edition of Women Transforming India (WTI) Awards 2019 to recognise women entrepreneurs from across India. This year’s theme is Women and Entrepreneurship.
- Times Internet-owned online restaurant table booking service Dineout has announced the acquisition of Delhi-based foodtech company Binge Digital for an undisclosed amount. The acquisition is expected to help its digital menu product Dine-in.
- Personal wealth management platform Scripbox has acquired another wealth management startup Upwardly for an undisclosed amount.
- Paytm Mall is reportedly shutting down its warehouses and adopting a hyperlocal model. In a media statement, the company said this is expected to help the company reduced costs associated with logistics. This will also bring down the company’s costs drastically as it would not need to own and operate its own warehouses
- Ride-hailing major Uber has reported a loss of $5.2 Bn in the second quarter of 2019, as compared to $3.7 Bn in the Q1 of 2019.
- Reliance Group is planning to boost investments in Madhya Pradesh, after the recent meeting between Madhya Pradesh’s chief minister Kamal Nath and Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani.
- Ahmedabad-headquartered lending startup Lendingkart has raised $30 Mn (INR 212 Cr) in an equity funding round led by existing investors including Fullerton Financial Holdings, Bertelsmann India Investments and India Quotient.
- Bengaluru-based two-wheeler rental platform Vogo may join the portfolio of New York-based hedge fund Tiger Global
- The Noida and San Francisco-based Innovaccer may raise $50-60 Mn from Tiger Global, Steadview Capital along with Dragoneer Investment Group.
- Food delivery major Swiggy has partnered with electric bike rental startup Bounce, to launch a bike taxi pilot in Indore and Ahmedabad.
- A cybersecurity firm has claimed to have identified a flaw in WhatsApp that lets hackers manipulate both public and private conversations.
- Giving relief to startups amidst the pending angel tax assessment issues, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has come out with a framework to be followed by the assessing income tax officers for an investigation into startups that are registered and unregistered with Startup India.
