Google Search Generative Experience - Big changes in search
Every change announced by Google causes a lot of attention, but also anxiety among people whose business depends on search. This is especially true for big news like the Search Generative Experience announcement.?Google recently announced?that their AI-based Search Generative Experience (SGE) will shake up the SERPs. For now, this news is only available to users in the USA, but it will definitely be available to all users soon.?
As they say from Google: "With new generative AI capabilities in Search, we're now taking on more work than just searching, so you'll be able to understand your topic faster, discover new perspectives and insights, and make it easier to search and get the results you want."
What is Search Generative Experience?
Search Generative Experience is an experimental version of Google's search engine that uses artificial intelligence to generate contextual answers to complex questions.
There are three ways SGE uses AI to improve the search experience:
SGE aims to answer longer searches in multiple steps. These queries may not necessarily be answered by a single website. Instead of showing only 10 blue links, Google will now use AI to generate a snapshot from multiple sources?information and other insights/advice, in order to better answer your queries. It will appear below the search bar with a background color used to differentiate it from the usual light/dark theme.
But SGE is not meant to answer your question and send you on. Google says their focus is still on driving attention to web content. “As we bring generative AI to Search, we're committed to continuing to send valuable traffic to sites across the web.” We see this as a sign of hope for businesses that rely on paid or organic search traffic.

Testing will offer a definitive solution
One way Google will keep clicks flowing is by placing three links prominently to the right of each snapshot-a. They will have thumbnails to grab viewers' attention.
Sometimes SGE will choose not to offer a snapshot, such as when there is insufficient information or for sensitive questions about finances or health care, you will not see an AI-generated answer.
Of course, all newspapers are in the testing phase and the big question is how it will all look in the end when the official change is announced.?
Google searches don't always end after the first query. SGE's chat mode is designed to answer additional questions while maintaining the context of the search.
You turn on conversational mode by tapping on “ask a follow-up” or to one of the suggested next steps below the snapshot. What does it look like?watch it in the video here.
SGE Vertical experiences generates an informative synopsis. Since this search is primarily commercial, SGE is preparing a list of potential products. Each option includes an AI-generated description along with reviews, prices, and a thumbnail image. By tapping on one of the offered, you will see a larger image plus stores that sell that product, prices and other useful information, for example, if they have it in stock.
