The policy update, which applies starting mid-November, requires election advertisers across Google's platforms to alert viewers when their ads contain images, video or audio from generative AI — software that can create or edit content given a simple prompt. Advertisers must include prominent language like, "This audio was computer generated," or "This image does not depict real events" on altered election ads across Google's platforms, the company said in a notice to advertisers.

1 年Why should do that? At most Google could specify as policies: - Prominent Disclosures: may require that any election-related ads generated or influenced by AI prominently display information that indicates they are advertisements. This disclosure might include a label or disclaimer that clarifies the ad's nature as all. - Political Ads Verification: Google might also enhance its verification process for political advertisers to ensure that they comply with these disclosure requirements. This could involve verifying the identity of advertisers and confirming that their ads meet transparency standards. - Transparency Initiatives: This move could be part of Google's broader efforts to improve transparency in online advertising, especially concerning political and issue-based content. Such initiatives aim to prevent misinformation and manipulation in election campaigns
