Exciting news! On May 15th, Google introduced a significant update to the Play Console: Custom Store Listings (CSLs) by search keywords. This new feature allows developers to:

  • Target store visitors searching for specific benefits that your app or game provides.
  • Create impactful listings with suggested keywords from the Play Console.
  • Leverage Gemini, Google’s AI, for generating suggested descriptions.

How Do Google’s CSLs Compare to Apple’s CPPs in iOS Search Results??

  • No Paid Search Needed: CSLs enable you to customize your store listing based on what users are searching for organically, unlike Apple’s Custom Product Pages (CPPs).
  • Flexible Customization: CSLs allow changes to any creative or text metadata to align with user intent, whereas CPPs are limited to updating screenshots, promotional text, and/or app previews.
  • More Flexibility: Google Play Store allows up to 50 CSLs compared to 35 CPPs on iOS.

New Play Store Homepage and Search UI?

The Play Store is also rolling out a new homepage and search interface, featuring a dedicated “Search” tab in the center of the bottom bar, replacing the traditional search bar at the top.
