Well, today is the day Google’s Universal Analytics (UA)? will be retired and GA4’s is officially Google’s one and only tracking analytics platform. I don’t l know about you But I’ve been feeling Google’s growing pains all year. The biggest one for BWCI is the need for a completely new website. Coming soon in Aug!

This shift marks a significant transition to Google Analytics 4 (GA4), a more dynamic, flexible platform designed to address the evolving digital landscape and the growing need for more comprehensive privacy measures. This change which has been online for the past 3 years, is not merely an update—it's a completely new platform that introduces a new data model and advanced analytical capabilities.

?Understanding this transition is crucial for businesses, as it impacts how they track user interactions, measure performance, and derive insights from their data. In short last month my GA4 disconnected from my website and I’ve been flying rudderless. I have also noticed certain settings in Google Analytics are no longer registering. One of my ads on GA4 does not even register a single click-through, yet I’m tracking 1200+ with Meta. Usually these numbers are close to one another. A good reason to have both connected. I’ve been hearing slower-than-usual complaints and I’m seeing no change in traffic but big changes in outcomes. Is this a shift in the economy or is there a connection not working?? This is the advantage of tracking over time. I have somewhere to start when looking for the needle of “ where did all the sales go?”? I experienced a disconnect with my Intuit links. I would love to hear if anyone has experienced sites not working properly on the consumer end, especially in the small business segment of online purchasing.?

It’s a good time to do a universal check on how your data is coming through to locate and fix the gaps before they become an issue. For BWCI and my artist sites, it is new website time.? My websites have been outdated for a while and I knew big changes were on the horizon so I held off.? Now that they are here I’ll make the changes. There goes my summer slow time. Argh!

After the new sites go live I will begin the task of connecting API’s, Pixels, UTMs, and Tags. Each one for each website is a rabbit hole I have to leap down. And just like Alice I will have to see where I end up with each adventure.?

Good thing my mindset is ready for the challenges that lie ahead. I now have “go ask Alice” in my head. Joy’s - Down The rabbit Hole’s version. Keeping it local!
