How do I verify my business?
Most businesses verify ownership via phone, SMS, or requesting and receiving a postcard to your address from Google.
Verify your business on Google My Business
To update your business name and other info on Google, you must first verify your business. When you verify your business, you can check that your info is correct and that you’re the only one who can edit it.

Step 1: Add or claim your Business Profile on Google.

- On your computer, sign in to Google Maps.

- You can add your business in 3 ways:
- Enter your address in the search bar. On the left, in the Business Profile, click Add your business.
- Right-click anywhere on the map. Then, click Add your business.
- In the top left, click Menu Add your business.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to finish signing up for your Business Profile.
Claim your business through Google Maps
- On your computer, open Google Maps.
- In the search bar, enter the business name.
- Click the business name and choose the correct one.
- Click Claim this business Manage now.
- To choose a different business, click I own or manage another business.
- Select a verification option, and follow the on-screen steps.
Step 2: When you add or claim your profile, you can verify it through phone, text, email, or video.
- You may have to verify with more than one method.
- Available methods depend on business category, public info, region, support hours, and volumes.
Step 3 : Pick a type of verification. The verification methods are automatically determined and can’t be changed.
?????????Step 4 : Often, we must review verifications. These reviews help maintain the integrity of profiles. They can take up to 5 business days.
- When you’re verified, you get a notification.
- If we can’t verify your business with the first method, the “Get verified†button shows up again. If the button reappears, try a different verification method.
?????Step 5 : After you verify:
- It can take a few weeks for your updated business info to show across Google.
- You can update and add to your info at any time.?
- You can connect with customers through your profile.
Find your profile
- On Google Search, search for my business.
- On Google Search or Maps, search for your business name and city.
- In your Google Maps app, at the top right, tap your Profile picture or initial? Your Business Profile.
Tip: Search results can vary for many reasons. Your results can differ from someone else’s.?
Re-verify after info changes
To maintain quality business information, Google may ask a verified business to verify again. If you change some info about your business, you may need to re-verify. We might also ask you to update your business info or give more details about your business.

Standard verification methods
Phone or text
Important: To get your verification code, make sure you can answer your business phone number or receive texts. Interactive Voice Response (IVR) systems will not get the code.
- Go to your Business Profile.?
- Click Get verified? Phone or SMS.
- Answer the call or open the text with the code.
- In your profile, enter the code.
Important: Make sure you can use the email address in the verification screen.
- Go to your Business Profile.?
- Click Get verified? Email.
- Follow the steps in the email.
Video recording
Before you start
Important: Your video recording should not include:
- Any sensitive information like bank account, tax, or identification numbers.
- Any other private information about yourself or others.
- Other people’s faces.
Take the time to plan your video. You can’t record a video offline and then upload the file for verification later. Recording for verification videos can only be completed through your Business Profile. The video you submit for verification should be:
- Unedited, unique, and one continuous recording without breaks.
- At least 30 seconds long but no longer than 5 minutes.
- Recorded and uploaded from a mobile device through your Business Profile. Learn how to submit your video.
Submit your video
Step 1: Record and upload your video
Important: Create a plan for what you will show in your video. Make sure it meets the requirements listed above.
- On your mobile device, go to your Business Profile.?
- If you start verification on a computer, to continue on your mobile device, you can scan a QR code.
- Tap Get verified? Capture video.
- Tap Start recording.
- You could be asked to allow access to your camera and microphone. Follow the on-screen instructions to continue.
- Record your video.
- Tap Stop recording? Upload video.
Step 2: Wait for review
After you upload your video, we review it. Reviews can take up to 5 business days.
- If you’re verified, you get a notification.
- If the video method doesn't work, the “Get verified†button shows up. Make sure your video meets all the requirements and try again, or you can try a different verification option if available.
Tip: If your video is under review and you’re certain that your uploaded video meets all the requirements, we recommend you wait until a verification decision is made before you re-submit it. If you feel like you missed a requirement in your video, you can delete the uploaded video and record a new one.
Step 3 (optional): Delete your video
Important: You can delete your video at any time. If not deleted, Google eventually deletes them. When you cancel a video upload, both you and Google lose access to the video.
- On your mobile device, go to your Business Profile.
- At the top right, tap More ? Advanced settings.
- Tap Video uploads? Delete videos.
Live video call
Step 1: Get ready for the call
- Make sure your mobile device can join a live video call. Our support representative helps you join the call.
- Confirm that you’re at your business. Make sure you can demonstrate your location and ownership on the video call. For example:
Tip: If you enter a queue, you can choose to contact our Help Center. We usually take 24 hours to respond and we may ask you for more info.
Step 2: Start a text chat with support on any device
- Go to your Business Profile.?
- Click Get verified? Video call? Next.
- Select your language.
- To start a text chat with the next available support representative, click Start call.
Step 3: Show your business via video call via a mobile device
- When you’re ready, a representative helps you join a video call.
- To show your business location and ownership, use the camera on your device.
Instant verification methods
Rarely, we can immediately confirm that a specific Google Account owns a specific Business Profile.?
For example:
- If you verify your website with Google Search Console, your profile might get instant verification.
- Existing Search Console user: If you verify your matching website before you add or claim your profile, no “Get verified†prompt shows. You can immediately edit your profile and connect with customers.
- If an eligible business manages 10 or more profiles for locations of the same business, that business might be able to use bulk verification. Learn how to verify 10 or more locations in bulk.
