Google Just Announced January 2020 Broad Core Update
Google's algorithm is updating constantly. And they’ve always released quarterly updates. They just don't give it names from the zoo anymore. Nothing compares to the penguin and panda days lol
But I am still waiting for the rattle snake update ??
What am I referring to?
Recovering from an algo update can be difficult, but it doesn't have to be.
There are macro and micro signals that you can listen to, and this takes your reliance on some of the theory spinning down to a minimum. So that you just use them for ideas (as is all they should be used for).
You just need an approach.
Think about things on your sites in terms of micro and macro signals.
Micro = page level.
Macro = site level.
If your site took a hit in the most recent update or any update.
Are you checking which pages took the hit?
? Was it in one category?
? Was it certain types of posts?
? Was it enter here?
Was it 90% of your site? If so what's different about the 10%?
If it's mainly sitewide could it be because of a macro signal? Most likely.
This could be because of a change in the overall algorithm
Once you have your hypothesis, just like any scientist, you're going to want to test it.
Bottom-line as always is test, test, test (which you can't do well without good analysis).
"I was noticing big movements before they announced it was rolling out, is this the broad core algo?"
The answer is that it's quite likely, these things are rolled out over time or in batches which is common with a lot of dev tasks.
So it could be that you're in a niche where this has rolled out ahead of time. They then announce it when they're rolling out for the majority of sites.
If you're still not sure I'd point you to take a look at other sites in your niche and see if there's been major turbulence across your competitors as well.
Hope that clears this one up
How is the Google update affecting your Website? So far I'm pretty happy
