As a technology writer and enthusiast, I have been following every recent news regarding the chatbot with keen interest. Not that I'm worried that the AI robot will take my job one day, but every piece of breaking news makes me wonder: What does this mean for Google?
The world's largest search engine, 谷歌 , has been shaken by the popularity and rapid acceptance of ChatGP. There is a palpable sense of terror permeating Google's conference rooms, offices, and hallways.
The CEO of #Google issued a code red in December 2022, telling the company's engineers to put their thinking caps on and look for ChatGPT's contender. Earlier last week, the company laid off more than 12,000 workforce to focus on the critical item on the to-do list, AI, as reported by The Verge .
Sundar Pichai, the company's CEO, most likely hasn't been sleeping either. Pichai and other company executives met with Larry Page and Sergey Bin, the co-founders of Google, in a series of sessions to discuss and agree on the best AI strategy against the AI chatbot. According to 纽约时报 , Google plans to retaliate by unveiling more than 20 AI initiatives this year.

For over 20 years, Google has been standing tall as the world's leading search engine. The company's search engine platform remains a fundamental driver of its revenue growth.
