Google Introduces Vehicle Listing Markup for Enhanced Visibility

Google has introduced support for vehicle listing markup, creating a new way for car sellers to showcase their listings on Google's platform. This update comes with a specialized Search Console Rich result report and is fully compatible with Google's testing tool. It means that car dealers and sellers can use this markup to enhance the visibility and presentation of their vehicle listings in Google's search results, making it easier for potential buyers to find the cars they're looking for.

Google's new vehicle listing markup support is a significant development for car dealerships and other websites that sell cars. It provides a new and simpler way to get your vehicle listings featured on Google Search and other Google surfaces.

Car dealerships of various sizes now have the opportunity to qualify for vehicle listings on Google through the use of vehicle listing markup. While the conventional feed method is still a viable choice for dealerships that are accustomed to managing feed files, Google suggests employing the markup for those who have yet to enroll in vehicle listings on Google and want a more straightforward setup.

By implementing vehicle listing markup on their car detail pages, dealerships can offer essential information about their vehicles, including their availability. For more comprehensive instructions on how to do this, you can refer to Google's documentation. This enhancement allows a broader range of car dealerships to tap into Google's platform and reach potential customers more easily.

Once your markup is valid, Google will start to use it to improve the results it shows to users. For example, users may see your vehicle listings in the "Rich results" section of the search results page.

The vehicle listing markup is also compatible with the Search Console Rich result report. This report allows you to track the performance of your rich results, including vehicle listings. You can see how many impressions, clicks, and CTR your vehicle listings are getting.

Overall, Google's new vehicle listing markup support is a great opportunity for car dealerships and other websites that sell cars to get their listings featured on Google. It is a relatively easy way to improve your website's search visibility and performance.

Here are some of the benefits of using vehicle listing markup:

  • Your vehicle listings may appear higher in search results.
  • Your vehicle listings may be included in rich results, which can make them more informative and visually appealing to users.
  • Users may be more likely to click on your vehicle listings if they contain structured data.
  • You may get more traffic to your website and more leads on your cars.

We just switched over the schema for our clients. A notable different between the "product" listings and the "vehicle" listings seems to be the used of "type:"@Car" where we had previously used "type:"@Vehicle".
