Google-backed subsea cable system Equiano, which seeks to connect Europe to Africa via the ocean, has landed on South African shores.
This is the last stop for the 12 fibre-pair cable that promises to drive down Internet costs when it comes online in the coming months.
The door is open for women to enter the tech space, and particularly the legal tech industry. That's according to Sinal Govender, the co-founder and head of business and legal at SA startup, Life.file.
"There are enough women (and men) who welcome the increase of women in the space and there are now more opportunities than ever to upskill in whatever area piques your interest," she said.
The Zambia Information and Communications Technology Authority (ZICTA) has updated its roadmap for the issue of spectrum in the 700MHz, 2600MHz and 26GHz bands, some of which will help the country launch with its 5G ambitions.
Due to high demand, 700MHz frequencies which had initially been expected to be released in the first quarter of 2023 will now be issued earlier, in the third quarter of 2022, ZICTA said.

The South African government has launched an app that allows road users to report potholes called the SANRAL Pothole app.
According to the country's transport minister, Fikile Mbalula, during the launch, road users can take pictures of potholes and upload them in real-time.
