Google Docs New Update lets you compose text more easily
Google Docs now lets you select “Automatically detect Markdown” to enable auto-correcting for Markdown syntax. Markdown is a lightweight markup language that can be used for formatting elements to plaintext text documents. As of now, Google Docs supports a few Markdown syntaxes such as * or - followed by a space autocorrects to bullet points, various ways to start a numbered list, and [] followed by a space autocorrects to checkboxes.?
This new update now supports autocorrect for headings, italic and bold formats, strikethroughs, and links. Without needing to learn keyboard shortcuts, you can now create rich text documents more rapidly.
Google has clarified that there will be no admin control for this feature and that for end-users this feature will be off by default. The rollout for this update has started on the 29th of March, 2022 and it can take up to 15 days potentially for this feature to become visible to everyone.?
