“Shoot! Google Chrome ran out of memory while trying to display a webpage."
That's the message one sees when Chrome runs out of memory space. To understand why Google Chrome takes up so much memory space, one needs to understand how several modern browsers tend to operate.
Every app on the computer or laptop runs processes in the system’s RAM. RAM is temporary storage for all kinds of data and the CPU can access data held in the system RAM which is comparatively faster than a hard drive or even an SSD.
Is Google Chrome really a memory hog?
It is known that modern browsers take up a lot of memory and that might not be a problem at all if one has at least 32GB of RAM. Google Chrome uses multiple gigabytes of memory that can quickly slow the computer or laptop down if the machine is on low specs.
