Google broad core algorithm update on June 2021

Google search results is the main place that a researcher goes on his finding quest. These Google search results may have billions of data and information circulating everyday and around the globe. The automated systems identify the most satisfying and relevant answers to users' questions from thes billions of results. So Google tries different tactics and measurements to give the best useful results to its users. These major changes of the system have been able to reduce irrelevant results appearing on a search results page by nearly 40%.

“Google sends billions of visits to websites each day, and by providing highly relevant results, we've been able to continue growing the traffic we send to sites every year since our founding.”

As a result of these constant improvements, Google has released another broad core algorithm update on 2nd of June, 2021. There will be another follow up update in July 2021. The reason behind these two updates in a row, which is highly unlikely, is because the things couldn't be prepared timely. Google says that most sites will slightly notice the impact of either the two updates or not notice at all.

But it depends on the site’s performance and the SEO quality actually. The changes in content ranking in comparison to other sites will be possible. Also highly ranked sites can drop indubitably causing less traffic and less revenue.  So we can see alluring changes in coming weeks and as it will take some time to fully  mount the new results.

Google SearchLiaison @searchliaison has tweeted

“The June 2021 Core Update is now rolling out live. As is typical with these updates, it will typically take about one to two weeks to fully roll out.”

The Public Liaison officer in Google, Danny Sullivan states on Twitter that

“Some of our planned improvements for the June 2021 update aren’t quite ready, so we’re moving ahead with the parts that are, then we will follow with the rest with the July 2021 update. Most sites won’t notice either of these updates, as is typical with any core updates.”

The next question pops into our mind, Will this affect us and how bad will this affect our site’s rankings? What can we do?

Well, you are not alone in this quest. Let’s talk about it.

web vitals for Google algorithm core update 2021

Most important  thing you need to keep in mind and Google search best practices are can be listed as below.

#1 Don't panic.

If you notice a sudden drop of traffic or a sudden drop in ranking, DO NOT PANIC. Just make an accurate plan for your next steps to improve your content.

#2 This is not just for you

Google states that these updates are not for any specific websites.

There's nothing wrong with pages that may perform less well in a core update. They haven't violated our webmaster guidelines nor been subjected to manual or algorithmic action, as can happen to pages that do violate those guidelines. In fact, there's nothing in a core update that targets specific pages or sites. Instead, the changes are about improving how our systems assess content overall. These changes may cause some pages that were previously under-rewarded to do better"

So this means something good for the sites were doing their best in content, but didn’t rank appropriately as of the competition.

#3 Check your SEO knowledge and it’s practices

So now that you are calm down and cool enough, try your best to practice Good SEO.

Try some easiest things you can do to get started:

  • Mobile-friendly. The majority of people use mobiles in their searches and it’ll be bad that, you aren't providing very helpful information in a mobile friendly way. So this will reflect in your Google ranking evaluation. Make sure you have a mobile friendly and responsive website.
  • Accurate page titles. The title is really important to both users and Google as this tells about the page. Provide a clear view of the page content without stuffing the Keywords.
  • Loading time and speed. If your page takes too long to load, users won’t like it that much and they will find it frustrating. This will end up in higher bounce rate as well as short session duration. Be alert in your bigger images as these will take longer periods to load and better to optimize them.
  • Alt-tags for images. Alt-tags are text descriptions of image content. These are important for accessibility, and also to Google as they provide the real information of the image to the google crawler. So use alt tags for your images.
  • Sitemap. A sitemap is important to both Google and the user. It tells your users, and Google, what pages are important. So it's better to update the sitemap and it will help your site to be more searchable and accessible.

#4 Customers are really important.

User experience is the key to success. Customer is the key. These are some never ending rules in marketing, Growth hacking as well as in SEO. Think of your content from the view of your customer and you’ll find many loopholes for their real need. Think of what they really need. This is the quest of Google also. They are there to provide what customer look for.

"We're always looking for ways to improve these systems so we can display the most useful results possible" - The Public Liaison officer in Google, Danny Sullivan

So Google does not reward sites who are just trying to influence Google bot with the information. Stuffing Keywords and doing grey hat SEO won;t work much and you have to focus on high quality and helpful content. This is not hard to do at all. Just be honest in what you say and share to your users and Google will just know it.

#5 Claim your business profile on Google My Business.

Businesses can claim their business profile on Google My Business. This is a free service and will help your customers while giving more information. This will reveal who you are and what you are doing and who your customers are to Google.

Providing this kind of information makes it easier for customers to contact you. Website traffic and easy to be found out would do the trick ; your traffic increase.

If you are still worried and thinking what to do you may refer to Google's core updates for webmasters guide.
