Google Brings New Perspective Filter: Learn from Others’ Experiences on Search

As we continue to enhance Search with AI-powered capabilities, we are not only focused on providing quick insights but also on connecting you with the individuals and perspectives that can help you make informed decisions.

One of the updates Google is introducing is the Perspectives filter. In the coming weeks, when you search for a topic that could benefit from the experiences of others, you may notice this filter at the top of your search results.

Perspective filters will make it easier for you to access the human experiences that make the web—and the world—so wonderful. Currently, the feature isn't available, but it will be released in the US and accessible through Google's mobile app once it is ready.

By tapping on it, you will exclusively see videos, images, and written posts that people have shared on discussion boards, Q&A sites, and social media platforms. It will also provide more information about the creators of this content, such as their names, profile photo, and details about the popularity of their contributions.

To illustrate this feature, let's imagine you are planning to move to a new city where you don't know anyone yet. You search for "how to make friends in a new city" and apply the Perspectives filter. Instantly, you will be presented with a page of results featuring advice from other individuals, such as personal stories shared through video or helpful tips from commenters in a forum thread.

In addition to the Perspectives filter, there will be a dedicated Perspectives section that may appear on the search results page. This builds upon our previous efforts to bring more diverse voices to Search. By clicking on the "See more" link, you will have access to a full page of perspectives content, just as you would by using the filter.

This update complements the Perspectives feature we recently launched for news-related searches under Top Stories. By surfacing a variety of noteworthy voices and sources, this feature helps users better understand news stories.

These new updates to Google search are going to provide you with valuable insights from real people and diverse perspectives. Whether you are seeking advice, personal experiences, or a range of opinions on a topic, Google wants to ensure that you have access to the most helpful information available.
