Google Bard: A collaborative Ai Service rather than a search Engine !?

What is Google Bard ?

Bard is a generative Ai chatbot which was launched on February 6th, 2023 as a direct competitive response by Google to Chat GPT which is a product of OpenAI.

ChatGPT, a chatbot based on the GPT-3, a family of Large Language model gained viral response upon its launch on November 2022.

Alarmed by ChatGPT's potential, Google started to progressively work on LaMDA (Language Model for Dialogue Applications Architecture) which was a prototype of LLM (Large language model) developed in Nov 2021 by Google, but never released to public.

On 6th Feb, Bard was rolled out to 10,000 trusted testers before the world wide release which was scheduled to happen at the end of the month.

The launch of Bard was received as " Rushed" , as Bard's announcement to preempt Microsoft's event unveiling its partnership with OpenAI to integrate ChatGPT into its Bing Search Engine as Bing Chat.

Google Bard incurred?a lot of criticism from Google's employees as well from the market space with regards to its accuracy and relevance .

On 31st March, Google intended to upgrade Bard by basing it to PaLM(Pathways language model), a more powerful Language model architecture than LaMDA. Allowing Bard to be compatible with more than 20+ Programing Language.

Bard took center stage during the annual Google I/O keynote, which was held in May 23. In a stark contrast to previous year, Bard had some very impressive updates that allowed users to integrate google products and other third party services.

During the company's annual Made by Google event, Sissie H. (VP) unveiled an upgraded version of google assistant which was deeply integrated with Bard, similar to what amazon did!

Overall Google's progressive approach towards development of Bard is quite interesting and exiting ??

• Google Bard uses real time data, unlike ChatGPT that uses data from its data library, dated sept 2021.
• Bard generates multiple draft responses at once allowing the user to view iteration for the prompt; unlike ChatGPT which generate completely new response every single time, making Bard relatively faster.

• Bard can create data charts/ tables which could be exported to google sheets/ excel, which isn't a available on ChatGPT;

• Bard's reasoning ability is quite impressive when compared to ChatGPT; the response from Bard is very structured and humanlike which isn't the case with ChatGPT.

• Using Bard as a Fact Checker- since bard uses real time data, fact checking is pretty accurate; actually saves time on research.

• Search anything with Google Lens- Bard is now linked with Google lens allowing it to constructively gather data with a snap of an image ??; the response accuracy is spot on (mostly ??).
