  • The Curse of Knowledge --- (You assume everyone is as knowledgeable as you are on a topic, reducing your ability to teach or lead)
  • Heaven’s Reward Fallacy --- (Expectation that we will be justly rewarded for all of our hard work and sacrifice)
  • Survivorship Bias --- (We overestimate the odds of success because we're only reading success stories)
  • Fundamental Attribution Error --- ( Attribute our actions to the situation, while attributing others' actions to their character)
  • Spotlight Effect --- (Overestimate how much people pay attention to us. No one gives a shit)
  • Entrenchment Effect --- (We value being right over getting to the truth)
  • Availability Bias --- (We evaluate situations based on the most readily available data)
  • Loss Aversion --- (We prefer to avoid losses over gaining wins. Scared to lose, therefore never fully going for the big goals)
  • Na?ve Realism --- (We think we see the world objectively and those who disagree with us are the ignorant/uninformed/biased)
  • Group Think --- (Opposition is silent and decision-making falters)
  • The Dunning-Kruger Effect --- (Incapable of objectively evaluating our own competency levels)
  • Bandwagon Effect --- (Following. If everyone believes X, then it must be so)
  • Ad Hominem --- (Attack the person rather the argument)
  • Baader-Meinhof Phenomenon --- (New awareness of something creates illusion that it's appearing more frequently)
  • Personal Incredulity --- (If we don't believe or understand it, then it cannot be true)
  • Sunk Cost Fallacy --- (I'm already this far in, I can't quit now)
  • The IKEA Effect --- (We assign higher value to things we've assembled or created)
  • Confirmation Bias --- (Mental gymnastics that makes you interpret everything as supporting evidence for your beliefs)

If you've ever hit a road bump in your journey, there's a moment where all seems lost. And sometimes that is the exact moment that may be the catalyst for a massive leap forward.

The ones that are able to seize these moments often go on to achieve incredible things:

Are you familiar with Paul Mitchell hair products and Patron tequila? The one thing you might not is what these brands have in common. John Paul DeJoria is the mastermind behind both these companies, but he did not start off as a billionaire. In fact, his journey to success has been extremely difficult. Yet, he has managed to inspire millions and get his name included in the top stories of successful?entrepreneurs.?

When DeJoria was 22, he had a two-and-a-half-year-old son and was on the streets. He has worked as a newspaper courier, janitor, and tow truck driver in the early years of his life to earn his bread and butter. Eventually, he started a new job at a hair care company and was introduced to Paul Mitchell.?

From the start, DeJoria had a strong entrepreneurship vision. He was a determined boy who was not going to let the universe get in the way of his dreams. He partnered with Paul Mitchell, and with a loan of $700, both of them went on to build an empire which is today famously known as John Paul Mitchell Systems. DeJoria didn’t stop there. His thirst for success only became stronger. He went on to found Patron Spirits and co-founded the House of Blue chains. He is now worth $3,000,000,000.

Today, DeJoria is also a philanthropist who fights for social issues. He helps provide resources to homeless people and continues to fight for justice.

This week I am also sharing one of my all time go to playlists. This is something I listen to mostly in the mornings during my priming/power up routine (which you can find in the previous edition of the newsletter)

This playlist is called Muladhara which is Sanskrit for the Root Chakra. I have found that this kind of music is best for putting your mind into a power state. I listen to it with headphones and loud, which allows me to do positive visualizations while being completely immersed in the music.
