Update to Business information requirements Google Ads

Yoann FERRAND found out that Google is going to require advertisers to have their name and logo on their landing page.

Internal changes Google Ads

Picture from Monica Leary

This week Ginny Marvin explained that the internal changes in Google Ads are part of the conversion swapping of the Setup Assistant migration process( GA > GA4).

This explanation came after some posts and complaints from users like Monica Leary .

The problem with these internal changes is that users saw new GA4 conversions in their accounts. These conversions were put on primary... This could really impact your campaign.

The goal of the update is to have corresponding GA > GA4 conversions settings this should help advertisers with bidding or measurement.

Some users did not know about these changes and that is why Google has made an apology for the confusion. For Ginny Marvin her full post check.

GA4 data export

GA4 has introduced user data export in BigQuery.

New Google Ads status

New Google Ads Status: Limited by bid strategy found by Anthony Higman!

New conversions setup

Anthony Higman found these new conversions in the conversion set-up: Book appointments and Quote requests. Looks like Google wants to combine GBP with LSA.

Did Google quietly raised ad prices?

Caterina Mariani sent me this article last week that describes that Google quietly raised ad prices to boost search revenue, this was told by Google ads executive Jerry Dischler( in emails).

The effect could be that in auctions the prices were raised by 5 percent for the typical advertiser and could potentially have raised by 10 percent for some queries. For more information read this article or check Mike Ryan's posts( Post 1 & Post 2)

Checkout live

Tiago Goncalves found out that the new checkout tool is live in Merchant Center.

New Google Ads feature Spacing

F?rat Dere found this new setting called spacing. With "Spacing," you can adjust the spacing of tabs and other elements on the panel. Firat only found this setting in one account(picture from Arpan Banerjee ).

GA4 Checkout report

Google has launched the checkout journey report for GA4.

Change to video views

Beginning this week I posted about Unlock demand with video creatives. Before I could watch this Tiago Goncalves already sent this picture where Google has announced that they will add shorts and in-feed video for video views.

When a user watches 10 seconds of this format it counts as a view. For skippable CPV it's 30 seconds...For people who are using a lot of YouTube Ads, I recommend you to watch this episode.

Google Ads AI update

This week google wrote a blog about the new AI tools for Ads. In this blog, they announced that Automatically created assets are now available for 7 additional languages:

  • Dutch
  • French
  • German
  • Italian
  • Japanese
  • Portuguese
  • Spanish

For advertisers with English assets in the US and UK, automatically created assets will soon start using generative AI!

Google also said that they have been testing the conversational experience in Ads. They already made some improvements with this feedback and they will move to beta testing for the English language in the US and UK in the next months.

Update AssetGroupListingGroupFilters

From October 4 AssetGroupListingGroupFilters?can be created asynchronously using batch processing with the Google Ads API! For more information check this article.

IOS 17 is live

This week IOS 17 went live. With IOS 17 Apple has implemented click protection in the private modus in Safari.

I did a quick test and the GCLID did not show anymore (private browsing modus Safari). With GCLID Google can assign conversion to individual users.

GBRAID & WBRAID still showed with these parameters Google can assign conversion with conversion modeling. Also, UTM's still showed on my device. For more information about this change read this article.

Last Smart Shopping campaigns

It looks like the last Smart Shopping campaigns are being upgraded.

Technical issues Gmail Ads

This week I received this image from Tiago Goncalves . In this message, Google is telling advertisers that they are fixing some technical issues that are created by account-level and app category exclusions . From now on the exclusions won’t block Google property’s or Gmail’s app categories.

Update misleading policy

On 21 November Google will update the Google Ads Misleading representation policy.

Extra support imported GA4 conversions Google Ads API

eCPC becomes Manual CPC

Google posted another message that from October 2023 the eCPC bid strategy will behave as Manual CPC.

X is joining GDN

Elliot Smith got this email that told him that X is joining the Google Display Network on the 28th of September.

Reminder attribution models will go away

Google just sent me this Dutch message that tells me that from 18-10-2023 some attribution models will not be available anymore.

From that day Google will automatically update to data-driven. The attribution models that go away are first click, linear, time decay, and position-based attribution. The models that stay are data-driven attribution, last click, and?external attribution.
