?? Google Ads Demand Gen Campaigns: First Results

If you haven’t heard it yet, Google is replacing Discovery Ads with a new campaign type called Demand Gen.?

According to Google, one of its unique features is the ability to “expand beyond existing customers with lookalike segments,” which can “help you find new customers similar to those who already engaged with your brand.”

In other words, you’ll be able to generate new traffic by using lookalike audiences.

We tested this new campaign and were initially impressed with the results—but things seemed a little too good to be true.

So, because we know Google, we decided to investigate and really dig deeper into the account.

Turns out, our skepticism was spot-on.?

We specifically targeted very cold traffic, and guess what Demand Gen gave us?

Warm traffic.?

Those “new” people would have converted anyway.?

While Demand Gen campaigns can help you drive conversions, site visits, and actions, the question is this:?

Is it really generating demand or is it just attributing more existing demand to itself?
