Goodbye T2, see you soon!
Changi Airport Terminal 2 will be closed tomorrow for 18 months for renovation. Having spent the most of my aviation career in Terminal 2 (T2), running down from the far end gates F60 and F42 to the other end at E8 and E28, T2 has definitely impacted my life. How can a terminal impact my life? Having spent over 12hr in T2 per shift many times, how can I not call it my 2nd Home?
I will certainly miss T2 a lot as I have forged many friendships here. T2 feels like Home as I belong to a family of Lufthansa Group, Lufthansa and Swiss International Air Lines Team. I missed the moments chit chatting with my friends and roaming around T2, seeing familiar faces. T2 really felt like a home. I remembered memorable moments like when I break fast for dinner together with my friends and my duty managers during the Ramadan period, when I had CNY eve reunion dinner in T2 and when I celebrated Christmas in T2. All these activities and celebration felt homely. We worked hard together and played hard together, staying up in the airport till the dawn at time to handle grounded flights.
Not to forget, the passengers. I have met really friendly, cheerful and bubbly passengers. I remember an instance where I am screaming in joy like a little girl with my First Class Passenger when we talked about SQ Suite class, a freaking bed in the airplane?
I have met a family of friends here, forged many friendship and see my future here. T2 will definitely play a special part in my heart. Due to low traffic, it is indeed the best time to renovate Terminal 2, since it is the last terminal to be renovated. I will miss this special place and do hope the return of Lufthansa and Swiss International Air Lines very soon.
Goodbye T2, see you soon ! I am excited what will Changi Airport Group do? What exciting project will they create? More importantly, as COVID19 is expected to affect air travel, how will CAG change their plan?
