A special message from StartupAmsterdam's Director, Bas Beekman .

Dear friends of StartupAmsterdam,

I have been leading the StartupAmsterdam action program with great pleasure since 2015. Now, at the end of our second 4-year term, we can look back on 8 wonderful years of Amsterdam as a startup and tech city. Throughout these years, we have set up and supported?countless projects, initiatives and campaigns?that helped Amsterdam become the ecosystem it is today: dynamic, innovative, creative, diverse and enterprising. It's been great to see so many companies and organizations create innovative, breakthrough products and services that contribute to the challenges we currently face as a society.

The StartupAmsterdam program will officially end at the end of this year. This unfortunately means that in the coming months we have to scale down some of our activities, for instance, communications (including this newsletter).

But that doesn't mean we won’t continue supporting all those entrepreneurs who work so hard to make the city better for our citizens and businesses. We are currently working on a new program for purpose-driven entrepreneurs in Amsterdam, which we will communicate about in the coming months. Your voice is very important in this!

For now, I would like to thank the StartupAmsterdam team for their tireless efforts over the past years - Alexandra Belicova , Aleksandra Sheshmini , Adam Galijasevic , Dieter Oude Kotte , Guy Vincent , Igneta Skliaustyte , Iris van Groenou , Jo?l Dori , Kriya Mehta , Sarah Herzog and Semra ?elebi - what a top team! And although Aleksandra, Igneta and Guy are moving on, we’re happy to announce that they all will continue working on projects partially set up by StartupAmsterdam. (more on this below)

And of course, all praise goes to all our partners, who we've worked with over the years - all the startups, scaleups and large tech companies, the knowledge institutions, the incubators, the investors, the accelerators, the event organizers, the service providers, other cities and national government. Without your efforts, StartupAmsterdam would have never become a success.

The second phase (2019-2022) of the StartupAmsterdam initiative is coming to a close and the team is feeling reflective. Those four years have seen the team support countless startups – and each other – through the best and toughest of times. With Amsterdam’s ecosystem thriving more than ever, each member of the StartupAmsterdam team?recalls their highlights and looks to the future for startups in the city.?

With the programme ending, some of our stellar team members are ready for new challenges. This is definitely not a goodbye though - Aleksandra, Guy and Igneta continue working on StartupAmsterdam's projects, so they'll stay close to the StartupAmsterdam family.

What's next for these toppers?

Aleksandra Sheshmini ?is joining? Equals ?to support the team and work towards a more inclusive and diverse tech ecosystem. Guy Vincent ?will lead? Amsterdam Circular ?- an initiative?by the Gemeente Amsterdam , AMS Institute and Rockstart ?that aims to connect circular ventures with co-financing opportunities.? Igneta Skliaustyte ?will solely focus on? TOMAS ?to facilitate?matchmaking between tech companies and talent initiatives in the Amsterdam Area.?
