Goodbye for now

Goodbye for now

I’m coming off of an incredible weekend retreat with the CWCC board of directors feeling rejuvenated. Each year, we take the time to reevaluate our mission, vision, and strategy - which is always a great way to refocus and reenergize. This year was a little different as I began my transition to a new role and leave the CWCC in the very strong leadership of Simone D. Ross.

Nearly five years ago, I started at the CWCC and have since worked tooth and nail to create a new vision for women in business. I believe this committed Board of Directors and our talented CWCC staff members are fully executing on that vision and will continue to do so.?

I’ve had the opportunity to connect with many members this past month to convey my gratitude for their help in putting Colorado on the map as THE place to advance women in business through the empowering, supportive, and vibrant community we have built together.

In fact, I see these community allies as a FORCE! We’ve created the battle plan and we will continue to forge ahead, regardless of the hurdles and barriers we face.?

The latest Women in the Workplace Report from McKinsey & Company - which includes a full year of findings from the pandemic - appropriately cites “burnout, leadership, and hope” as themes that came from the report.?

Burnout. Leadership. Hope. Those are a few very disparate motifs. But we are living them all, aren’t we?

According to the report, the gap between men’s and women’s burnout levels has actually nearly doubled - as if we weren’t already taxed before.?

Despite this, women leaders are stepping up to support employee well-being and diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts... but that work is not getting recognized, the report shows.?

This is why the CWCC exists - to develop a community of empowered businesses who believe in the importance of DEI, sponsorship, mentorship, and getting women into the highest levels of leadership. Then taking that passion and transforming it into actionable strategies that actually influence change.?

It’s our job - myself included - to continue this work. I’m not giving up on this mission and neither should you.?

CWCC Interim CEO, Simone D. Ross, now has the keys to the CWCC office (the proverbial Maserati) and has already hit the road to ensure that this transition is seamless and successful.? For those of you who know Simone, you know she’s got this. For those of you who don’t - I encourage you to reach out!?

It’s comforting to me to know you all are in good hands - and I am so grateful to each and every one of you for encouraging me, supporting me, and, of course, challenging me.?

I hope to see you soon at a future CWCC event!

You were an amazing leader for CWCC. You’ll be missed but congrats on the new gig!
