As 2024 draws to a close, we hope it’s been a rewarding year for you. Let’s be honest—it’s been a tough one, but if there’s one thing recruiters are known for, it’s resilience.
This year brought its fair share of highs and lows. While we’ve celebrated some great wins, we’ve also had to face some tough losses. But adversity has a funny way of strengthening bonds. The challenges of 2024 have fostered a real sense of camaraderie within our team—a siege mentality, if you will—that’s kept us moving forward.
Looking ahead, here are my predictions for 2025:
1. A Slow Start
Q1 might tease us with signs of improvement, but don’t expect a miracle turnaround. Change will come, but it’ll be more evolution than revolution.
2. A New Approach to Talent
The rising costs of LinkedIn and job boards have agencies rethinking how they source and nurture candidates. The agencies that crack the code on innovative, cost-effective methods will break free from these platforms and lead the pack.
3. The Reign of User-Generated Content
Personal branding will remain the hottest ticket in town. Consultants will continue to build their own brands, and the smartest agencies will embrace this, reaping the rewards. Those still clinging to outdated control tactics? Well, let’s just say they might find their teams updating their LinkedIn statuses sooner than expected.
4. Commission Reality Checks
Expect more sustainable commission schemes to come into play. The days of consultants earning more than their directors might be fading as agencies recalibrate for healthier margins.
5. The Return of Face-to-Face Meetings
In 2025, we predict a comeback for in-person meetings—a real game-changer for clients choosing agency partners. Being willing to visit the office, understand the culture, and build relationships face-to-face will set agencies apart. And honestly, isn’t it about time we dusted off those name badges?
There will be some of you who will reflect on their years and decide that it's time for a new start (hashtag new year new me), and we have plenty of clients who are looking at the moment.
