Goodbye 2024 - Hello 2025

This new year couldn’t start sooner.?

2024 was a rough one - bereavement in every aspect of my life.?

2024 will always be the year I stepped down and left my business, after almost 14 years. I also lost the person who was my only constant source of unconditional love in my entire life.

Today will just be a little warm up into my newsletter, as we head into New Year's Eve - I will be properly launching it at the end of the week - super excited to share "Not my First Rodeo." Thank you to all who have subscribed so far!

I have been working with the brilliant coach Selina Barker - she created this very popular Guided Journal “Goodbye, Hello ” and she is the cheerleader helping me to navigate a new chapter.

As the new year approaches, I am sharing what’s on my list of Goodbyes and Hellos.

I have practiced this a number of years now.? I find sharing it with others keeps me accountable and it is brilliant to look back on past years to notice patterns in what you want to let go.

This is a great exercise to close up the year

You basically write down all the habits and feelings you want to see the back of as they don't serve you any more. At the same time, think about how that new space could be filled with new habits and feelings you want to introduce in the new year.

If you are feeling dramatic (as I usually do) strike a match and burn your Goodbye list on New Year's Eve. I love doing this (after you've made a digital copy because, modernity!) as a memorable farewell ritual to everything you don't want to take into the New Year.

Try it! It is very gratifying.

Here's my 15 GOODBYE 2024 / HELLO 2025

1. GOODBYE doing what other people want me to do / HELLO aligning with what I really want and not letting other people’s expectations influence me.
2. GOODBYE Defining myself through my work and business / HELLO being okay with not having any specific identity or job - focus on what brings me joy without labels.
3. GOODBYE needing to feel productive and striving all the time / HELLO liminal space and being comfortable slowing down and laying fallow. Trust this is what I need. Resist temptation to jump into the next big thing.
4. GOODBYE feeling trapped and stuck / HELLO feeling free, flexible and nomadic.
5. GOODBYE ignoring my body telling me something is wrong / HELLO connecting deeply with my body and trusting that the mind-body relationship is here to protect me.
6. GOODBYE laughing off burnout / HELLO taking care of me as a priority.
7. GOODBYE feeling inadequate and chasing other people’s expectations / HELLO being clearer on what feels good and acceptable to me and letting go of everything else.
8. GOODBYE running every hour back-to-back and surviving on adrenaline / HELLO creating space every day just to be still.
9. GOODBYE feeling alone with my pain / HELLO getting help and joining communities of support.
10. GOODBYE short, sharp breaths HELLO meditation and long deep breaths.
11. GOODBYE defining success through achievements HELLO redefining success through contentment and peace.
12. GOODBYE masking how I feel / HELLO being authentic, even if that includes my dark, cynical side (total bitch - sorry, not sorry).
13. GOODBYE chasing approval because I feel guilty and inadequate HELLO receiving without apology, being selective with who I share my love with and asking for what I deserve.
14. GOODBYE going with the flow just to keep everyone happy / HELLO taking myself out of situations that do not align with me.
15. GOODBYE low vibration emotions - fear, anger, regret, jealousy / HELLO higher vibration emotions - courage, peace and acceptance.

‘Happy New Year’ and Good Riddance to all the habits and emotions that have stopped serving you, as you get ready for a brand new spin around the sun.
