Good Vibes During Challenging Times

Good Vibes During Challenging Times

In a matter of a few weeks everyone’s world has been turned on its side including mine. We went from celebrating a significant milestone in our company’s history to cancelling all travel, enforcing self-isolation and closing our offices to help combat the spread of COVID-19. It’s happened so fast that most of us have not had sufficient time to process exactly what is going on, nor the extent to which it will affect us, our families, our friends and our communities in the coming months and in the long term.

Over the years I have learnt during difficult times it is important to slow down and create space for yourself to process information and focus on the simple things in life. As simple as this sounds, ensure to protect yourself and your mind from negative individuals and negative media that will definitively have an impact on your energy and mood as you navigate these challenges.

Instead surround yourself with positive people, positive energy, positive literature. We are all going to need each other, so make it a habit to take time to show gratitude to one another. It will have profound effects on you and the people around you and make the journey that much more enjoyable.

For those looking for the positive in all the noise I thought I would share some of the things I am doing .

Starting with my daily routine

1.     Exercise: Ensure you are maintaining daily activity, that can be as simple as going for a walk, doing yoga in your house or outside, or joining a virtual exercise class.

2.     Journaling: Take time to write down your thoughts before you start your day, it can be incredibly alleviating to journal and when this is all over you will have something to reflect on.

3.     Meditation: There is a great App I use called AURA Mindfulness to help me with daily meditation, they have a lot of great content so check them out!

4.     Sleep: Make sure you get lots of sleep.

5.     Intermittent Fasting: This is a great way to kick your body into defense mode, help increase resistance to stress and many other great benefits, if you haven’t heard about this before, be sure to check it out. Here is a great article by WebMD.

Here are a few individuals that I regularly follow and rely on to keep me positive and focused on the right things. They have weekly newsletters that I have subscribed to that are amazing.

1.     Simon Sinek -

2.  Robert Glazer -

3.     Robin Sharma -

The daily routine is so important, and mine is remarkably similar to yours. The one addition that I think is critical in these times is this: Reach out to at least one friend or colleague just to say hello and that you are with them in spirit.
