A good UI is a dumb UI
Welcome to the first edition of the Internal Developer Portals newsletter.
Portal talks 2024 was such a great event! Here are some of its key points:
A good UI is a dumb UI, said Viktor Farcic in the day’s first session. A good UI should not contain much logic and should rely on APIs to discover what can be done. Farcic then compares developer portals that ignore platform APIs to better ways to connect the portal and the platform.
In the event’s last session, Javid Habibi takes the “good UI is a dumb UI” idea and shows how to enable centralized management of your infrastructure and enable self-service for your developers with a portal and a managed control plane.?
Real life is what matters, for portals too. Jennifer Riggins had three Port customers share their experiences with her.?
What do portals do to reduce chaos? Zohar Einy, CEO of Port, explained the chaos we’re currently experiencing in the SDLC and how portals and platforms change it.?
API governance, developer portal and developer experience - are they converging and how? This session, with Mark Boyd and Aidan O’Connor, discussed API governance and then showed how it can be implemented in an internal developer portal.
What’s the playbook for portal-as-product? Watch this session to learn from Port’s customer success practices.?
Hope you enjoy this!?
Cheers,
Port
