Good Touch and Bad Touch

Good touch, Bad touch

Overview

Sexuality education has positive effects, including?increasing young people's knowledge and improving their attitudes related to sexual and reproductive health and behaviors. Sexuality education – in or out of schools – does not increase sexual activity, sexual risk-taking behavior or STI/HIV infection rates. Teaching kids about good touch and bad touch makes them emotionally strong and helps them to grow normally. It helps them handle “not so positive events” in life in a better way so that they do not impact their growth and personality.

Hypothesis

All of us want our children to be safe and secure and want to give them the best. We want to protect them against all odds. Our children come in contact with many people every day and there are good and bad people around them. So, it becomes our responsibility to sensitize them, equip them so that they are ready to face and handle any odd situation or person coming their way.

3 types of touch

1.?Good touch/safe touch

a. How do you feel when Mumma hugs you? Papa gives you good night kiss? Grandparents hold you in their arms? (You feel good, nice and warm, and safe and protected)

b. Teacher patting your back is good touch.

c.?Safe touch is when doctor checks you. (You can ask your parents to be around when even Dr checks you)

(Physical contacts that you are comfortable with)

2. Ok-ok touch

a. Friends holding your hand while playing

b.?Friend keeping arm around your shoulder while talking to you (without hurting you)

(Friendly touches)

3.?Bad touch/ unsafe touch

a.?Stranger or known person touches you strangely (making you feel uncomfortable)

b.?Touches your cheeks, chin, lips without your permission

(Physical contacts that makes you feel uncomfortable)

(Any part below the nose and above the knees in the front)

3.?????Between the legs

4.?????Buttocks

(It is wrong if someone touches in these 4 places/it is called bad touch)

(Never allow this)

a. Swim suite rule

Parts that get covered when we bath

Bathing suite covers those parts which are private and are not meant to be touch

These are no entry zone?

You are the Boss of your body

  1. You have the control of who touches your body and how.

2. Say “NO”, your “no” means “no”.

What to do when someone touches you in the wrong way?

1.?????Say “no”

2.?????Tell that person you don’t like it (Even if the touch is from a familiar person)

3.?????Scream loudly if the person does not stop

4.?????Never stay alone with that person ever again

5.????What if the person is not leaving you to go or holds you tightly?

a.????Bite the person with maximum force

b.????Shout “NO” or “help! Help!” loudly

d.????Tell someone about it/ call for help

#Do not be afraid/scared, you are not doing anything wrong, you can scream

?Whom to tell first? (Whom to complain first in case you are inappropriately touched)

1.?????Bhaiya/Didi (Elder siblings)

2.?????Parents

3.?????Grandparents

4.?????Doctor

5.?????Teacher

6.?????Principal

7.?????Anyone you are close to

If someone touches you and tells you to keep it a secret, that is an unsafe touch or a danger touch.

Safety rules to follow

1.?????Never rely on someone you don’t know (don’t take anything to eat or any toys or don’t go with them anywhere alone)

2.?????Don’t allow anyone to touch you without your permission (specially strangers)

3.?????It is not okay to touch someone’s private parts

4.?????It is not okay if someone exposes his/her private parts to you

5.?????It is not okay for someone to touch his/her own private parts in front of you

6.?????Say “NO” if someone ask you to touch his or her private body parts

7.?????Say “NO” if someone ask you to take your clothes off (unless it is a doctor who has to examine you give you injection but in presence of your parents)

8.?????Do not allow anyone to take photos or videos of you when you are not wearing clothes

9.?????It is “NOT OKAY” for someone to show you photos/videos of people without clothes

Conclusion

You can decide who can touch you, who can kiss you or who can give you a hug.

YOU ARE THE BOSS OF YOUR BODY, ALWAYS REMEMBER.

You have the right to say “NO”, loudly and clearly.

You have the right to have your feelings respected and protected.

Hi everyone, I had a great chat with Jaya Jaiswal, a fantastic sex educator. She shared why moms often struggle to support their kids on these issues and what parents need to say about puberty and masturbation. It was super informative. Want to know more? Click here to watch.
