Good Time For It

Now the weather is starting to get a bit warmer outside, I thought it was a good time to throw the idea out there about the benefits of cold therapy and a 30 second cold shower (after your normal nice one of course).
You may remember me mentioning a?while back?that I started implementing this idea at the end of my showers.
Cause I’m soft I didn’t keep the full 30 seconds up during winter.
I was happy to just get 10-15 seconds to be honest each day as it wasn’t exactly inviting when it’s before 5am and already single digits.
But now it’s warming up, it’s becoming more enjoyable, and doable, to extend that length back out again.
So why should you bother giving it a try for the last 30 seconds of your shower?
There’s a few reasons why you should maybe think about giving it a go, as I found in?this article.
The first one being that it may help increase your immunity and make you less likely to get sick.
From doing it for the last 7 months I only just managed to get a cold for the first time last week (despite being around others that were crook) so I guess that helped? Maybe?

The other thing I did like it for in the mornings especially was that it definitely increased my alertness.
There’s nothing like a shock of cold water in your face to wake you up properly, especially if you may not have slept great the night before.
One other reported benefit is that it may keep your hair healthier. I can’t confirm or deny that unfortunately…
Some studies find it may help your recovery post workout too. So not a bad idea to give a try if you’ve had a big session.
Obviously, the idea is not for everyone, and if you have any serious health condition, you may want to speak with your doc before giving it a go.
Anyways, just like my cryotherapy treatments, I find it a good addition to trying to make this old, sore body less old and sore.
Cheers,
Daniel
