Good Things Take Time and Great Things Take A Little Bit Longer...

The first time I sent Gary Vaynerchuck a DM on instagram it was 2015. I was a CRO in the radio business but for some reason I loved his content and knew he and I needed to work together somehow. Over the next couple of years I sent a lot of DM's but no response. I hate crickets. So I decided to take out a google alert on Gary's name.

One morning in March 2019 I got the alert that Gary was launching a wine company with a business partner. That's when I had the idea...

If I can't get Gary to respond to me, maybe his partner will? Maybe I can add value to his partner's new venture and then just maybe he will want to help me some how.

I sent a message to his partner on Linkedin and said:

I saw that you are launching a new wine company, Congratulations! I launched a few different products with the Gallo Winery and would be happy to share with you what worked and what didn't if you have a few minutes to speak. Heather

That was it! His partner jumped on a call with me that lasted an hour. I shared everything I knew about product launches in the beverage business and he was so grateful. The last thing he said before we hung up was, "if there is ever anyway that I can repay you know that I am all in!" That's when I asked him to set up a meeting for me and Gary and he said yes!

At this point in time I was launching my new podcast and I knew I wanted to go big or go home so I was set on the idea of having Gary as my first guest. Not only did Gary do my show but he also agreed to have me on his show as a guest.

Leading with value for others will always be the best approach.

Fast forward 2 years and I have had so many amazing guests and I continue to be so grateful for all of the wisdom they share with my listeners. Today, I am sitting down with John Assaraf to discuss how to unlock the brain's hidden power and how to let go of what disempowers you.
