So proud to bring back this amazing event at Hotel Jerome for the 3rd year, celebrating black icons across the culinary, wine, and spirits space. Carmelo Anthony?said it best, the Black on Black dinner is a story and?this year's was one for the books!?
For me, the Black on Black Dinner isn’t just about the food—it’s a celebration of community and the rich tapestry of black culture. As I’ve often said, food is a powerful connector, bringing people together and fostering a sense of belonging. This event embodies that spirit, creating a space where we can honor our heritage, share stories, and inspire the next generation of hospitality leaders. It’s more than a dinner; it’s a testament to resilience and creativity within our community.
This year’s menu was insane. Chef Ashleigh Shanti and I held it down in the kitchen! We started with my Jerk Blue Prawns, then Chef Ashleigh came out with her Broad Beans, inspired by her Appalachian roots. Next course, I served Leeks Yassa, a new recipe from my menu at Blue LLama Jazz Club. From the menu of her restaurant in Asheville, NC,?Chef served her Kitchen Pepper Catfish, and those slow cooked grits! I saved my newest recipe for last, which features a cut of meat I've been obsessed with lately - Goat Chops with Peach, Mint, and Calrose Rice… it’ll be making the rotation for sure. Trust me, the messages are still rolling in about how good it all was.

The lineup of vintners was legendary, and included the McBride Sisters, Andre? Mack, Carmelo Anthony and Asani Swann, Artie Johnson, Marvina Robinson, Chris Paul and Donae Burston, Alicia Towns Franken, DLynn Proctor, Channing Frye, along with the great E40.
