The good old days are gone, long live "ze" good old days...
Many Israelis have difficulty with the “th” sound.
“Tanks” (not the military kind), may be bandied about liberally when aiming to be polite. “The” may often become “ze” or “de” - anything but the dreaded “th”. But it seems that now due to the corona era, tanks will indeed reign forever. An article on research into virus spreading droplets indicated that “certain sounds, such as the “th” in healthy, produced more droplets than others, according to the study.
Looks like in the interests of health, rigorous repetition of dese words will now become a sing of the past. Sometimes, one just has to know when you’re beaten!
