Good News
The way we treat small things are the way we treat all things.
I'm not sure who originally put that quote out, but I've always been fascinated by it. On one hand it seems like it could mean:
If I screw up something small, I might not be able to do the bigger version.
If I was thinking more positively then maybe my hear the quote as:
If I complete the small version then I might able to take on the bigger one.
Then I was thinking about the quote a little deeper and thought I may have missed the entire point. What if it had to do with my attitude instead?
If I'm not committed in the small things that I won't have the learning and experience I need to make the big things happen.
Then finally I landed on my current understanding of the quote:
How I look at something helps me predict if I will be successful or not.
It's not a matter of big or small. It's not a matter of lots of experience or none at all. When I show up ready to encounter something amazing then I can be assured something amazing CAN show up.
It's a lot like the news.
We are flood with horrible news, every single day. It's why I haven't watched the news for nearly 15 years.
But there is good news this week too:

When we look for the amazing, we find the amazing.
In a newsletter I get from @jimdenison he wrote this:
Sanjiv Chopra has?studied those who win the lottery , concluding that at the end of the year, they're back to their "baseline" happiness and "some are less happy." He explains that?hedonic adaptation causes us to grow accustomed to what we win or otherwise possess, so it becomes familiar and loses its ability to make us happy.
What, then, makes us happiest? Finding a purpose in life that leads to flourishing, giving to others, and expressing gratitude. Chopra cites research showing that "if you express gratitude on a regular basis, you'll be happy, you'll be more creative, you'll be more fulfilled—you might even live ten years longer." In fact, research shows that you can increase your happiness 25 percent by the regular practice of expressing gratitude.
Where is an area that you need to look for the amazing?
Happy Thanksgiving ya'll

3 年Awesome?Jake! I feel strongly about this. Do your best at everything big and small and appreciate it all. We all have something to be thankful for and gratitude is a choice. I'll start by saying how thankful I am for my healthy grandson that was just born on Nov. 8th. You and Steve Spiro have been on the same page.
