It's no secret that Friday is one of my favourite days of the week. I wake up in a good mood, practically skip into work, and try to get an early mark out too. Friday should be a good news day - or at least a news day. I recently attended the S.P.R.I.N.T. conference with Greg and Chris Savage and one of my top takeaways from the event was this: give people good news on a Friday.
Sometimes, that good news could just be no news; you might not have any feedback from the client on the role but you take the time to call a candidate to let them know this. It could be that you have been working on a role for a client for a few days and have seen some great talent, but not quite the right fit just yet.
"Radio Silence" can be your worst enemy - without any information people start to assume and come to their own conclusions, which are often way off the mark. I don't recall ever having a "No News" conversation end badly; by large, people appreciate your time, attention and effort.
Getting on the phone and giving feedback also ticks off a few frogs for me each day and I go into the weekend stress free knowing that Monday morning beckons with a fresh slate!
Happy Friday everyone!
