Good Morning Vietnam

The journey from receiving a draft card during the tumultuous 1970s to receiving a plane ticket to Vietnam 45 years later is a remarkable testament to the ever-evolving nature of life and the unexpected turns it can take.

While the times have changed, the underlying theme of making a positive impact and the pursuit of a better world remains consistent. I have been invited to Vietnam to collaborate on homelessness so I am off to Saigon next week.

In the 1960s and 1970s, many young people like me were faced with the prospect of being drafted and sent to Vietnam, a country deeply embroiled in conflict. The world was in a state of upheaval, driven by protests, our pursuit of democracy, and our desire for a democratic change for the Vietnamese people. The draft card was a symbol of uncertainty and a life-altering moment, a stark contrast to the opportunities decades later.

Now, 45 years on, Vietnam has transformed. Emerging from its history of conflict, it has become a nation reaching out, not as a place of turmoil, but as a partner in a mission of compassion. The mission, to help Veterans in need, is a noble one and one which some in Vietnam want to be a part of. nbsp;It reflects the enduring human spirit and the pursuit of a better world, not only for veterans but for society as a whole and showcases the power of reconciliation, international Cooperation with the potential for positive change.

?This is a reminder that the pursuit of change and the quest for a better world are timeless and transcendent. It demonstrates that individuals, regardless of the era in which they live, can make a profound impact on the lives of others. In the midst of history, chance, and the evolving global landscape, this journey serves as a powerful testament to the enduring human capacity for compassion and transformation encapsulating the idea that history is not just a series of events that happened in the past; it's an ongoing narrative that individuals can actively shape and influence the future.

By reaching out across borders and working together with people from different backgrounds and ideologies, we are contributing to a more interconnected and compassionate world.? It's a testament to the resilience of the human spirit, the power of collaboration, and the enduring pursuit of a better, more equitable world.

The mission to help homeless veterans worldwide is a noble one, and efforts to involve investors from half way across the world highlight the potential for positive change, even in the most unexpected of places and is a reminder that history is not just something that happens to us; but one we can actively participate in shaping.
