Good morning!

Good morning!

I love the office. No really, I do.

I love the transition period from “home life” to “work-life”. I love the connections. And, being a morning person, I love saying good morning a bunch (maybe even too much).

I am at my best in the morning. I like seeing and engaging with other people first thing and I can honestly say I'm almost always excited to come to work.

So I spent a bit of time today thinking how many times I used to say “good morning” on a typical pre-COVID day. It's a lengthy list, but here are a few to give you an example:

6:05 a.m.: Well there's the security person. Good morning!

6:30 a.m.: My 47th-floor early morning colleagues. "Morning, Elio. Good morning, Benjie. Morning, Sylvia (especially on work out days).

7 a.m.: Morning Elmo and thank you for the delivery (Elmo's been at KPMG for 30 years and is in his late 70’s).

7:20 a.m.: Morning, Wendy. She's the best, she makes everything run smoothly for me.

7:45 a.m.: I run down the elevator to grab a coffee. Morning. Morning. Good morning!

Then I'm back in the lobby between 8-9 a.m. with a black coffee in hand. Tons of people. Packed elevator. All my colleagues. My friends in the building. Strangers. The team working at the coffee station. Security doing their rounds. People I don’t know. GOOD MORNING.

There are too many “good mornings” greeted with a smile to count and I miss every single one of them.

Until I get to say "good morning" in person again, I wish you all a great day and will keep replicating my morning routine with Skype and Teams coffee chats, and many virtual “good mornings”.

Who knew a common phrase, "good morning" meant so much? I miss it more than I realized, so to all, GOOD MORNING!

Great read to start the day Greg. One of the silver linings of the pandemic is realizing how grateful we are for the simple joys in our daily routines Good morning!
