Good Morning From Asbury Park High School 2024-2025

The 2024 – 2025 new school year began in Asbury Park High School on a positive note with magazine publications of two promising students , Katherine Avila-Roman and Miguel Barrios-Nunez.

Magazine Publications

Katherine Avila-Roman got her artwork published in G-Fan Magazine , while Miguel Barrios-Nunez got his artwork published in Prehistoric Times Magazine.

Katherine’s publication for G-Fan Magazine came after the movie, Godzilla Minus One, won the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects.

Miguel joined a long list of artists from the Asbury Park School District who had their artwork published in Prehistoric Times Magazine.

Very nice accomplishments which brought positive news to Asbury Park High school.

Remembrance of 9/11

Besides the magazine publications, Mr. Wronko’s students participated in project for the Remembrance of 9/11 .

This project allowed the students to dig deep into why these horrific events on 9/11 occurred and what we could do better as a country to prevent anything like this from ever occurring again.

Part of the project allowed students to use their artistic skills in creating a Remembrance Poster.

Astronaut Rescue Mission

In addition to the 9/11 project, students were engaged in creating their own corporation which would build a spaceship to rescue the astronauts, Butch Wilmore and Sunita “Suni” Williams.

This project called for students to use their research skills to create a ship that could withstand gravitational pull, extreme heat, cold, and have an attachment that could hook onto the space station housing the current astronauts.

Kamala Harris vs Donald Trump

In addition to the astronauts trapped in space, students were also focused on the debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Trump .

The students watched the debate and provided their opinions on who they thought would be the better choice for the presidency and country.

After providing their opinions, students were able to vote outside Mr. Wronko’s room for Harris or Trump. The poll was open for the entire school and many students participated. This poll that was conducted had Kamala Harris winning in a landslide over former President Trump.

VFW Veterans Ray Gonzalez and Wilbur V. Martin

In closing, for Spanish Heritage Month , VFW Veteran Ray Gonzalez, Vietnam Veteran, came to Mr. Wronko’s class to discuss his background in the military.

He spoke about being of Spanish Decent and his experience surviving in the Vietnam War. Mr. Gonzalez explained that he was exposed to Agent Orange which caused a lot of health issues as he got older. He then talked about his career beyond the military once he returned home from Vietnam. Mr. Gonzalez was joined by Wilbur V. Martin , Vietnam Veteran. Mr. Martin came a couple of weeks before to discuss the Patriot’s Pen essay contest in which students were getting involved with.
