Good Morning Arizona anchor makes millions on home he built!

Arizona's Family 's "Good Morning Arizona" TV show anchor Scott Pasmore builds and sells homes, and it's proving to be a lofty side gig.

He just closed on the sale of his most expensive home to date, a 7,845-square-foot luxury home at 9411 E. Happy Valley Road in Scottsdale that sold for $5.977 million.

This is the third home he's built in the Happy Valley area over the past 10 years. The previous home sold for around $3 million.

"When I leave the morning show, I go to the house and am working on it sometimes until 7:30 or 8:30 at night ... Usually, I'll build it, live in it for a couple of years, enjoy it and sell it." — Scott Pasmore

This week's cover story explores how Arizona is preparing for huge microchip workforce demand in the coming years.

In Arizona, TSMC and Intel are set to receive billions of dollars in federal CHIPS Act funding to build out their fabs. The two companies expect to create a combined total of more than 9,000 manufacturing jobs.

To answer the call for skilled workers, companies, academia and state officials are championing a handful of apprenticeship programs — including the Quick Start program — to prepare students for semiconductor jobs in what’s projected to be a booming industry.

“Industry is crying for talent. But we have to find mechanisms to bridge between not having an opportunity and growing them internally ... And that's what really is my next big push.”

Leah Palmer , executive director of AzAMI Workforce/Manufacturing Technologies at Maricopa Community Colleges
