This is the Experts Podcast talking to an Expert that started their own podcast and it is pretty good. What is amazing is that that this person hasn’t got a broadcasting bone in her body, but this was going to be her platform to share her purpose, message and hopefully take a few people on a ride a financial enlightenment. Yes, our guest this week is the host of Good Money Habits Podcast, a financial advisor, and genuinely one of the most credible voices of her industry.

Julia Schortinghuis is a financial planner and a Director of Lighthouse Capital. This isn’t a podcast that is focused on money, saving, planning and retirement. No, we were more interested in what it takes to put together a podcast, the time, the energy, the commitment, and the know-how. Many experts out there have contemplated putting together a podcast but have never been sure if they can do it. This podcast will help.

Julia is a devout researcher and planner of Good Money Habits that she both produces and hosts. It doesn’t stop there she is also the publisher and has some support in marketing. It is rather a big venture for just one person but very early on Julia set aside the time and made sure that she was committed to the podcast. This tends to be the reason so many podcasts fail in that they haven’t got the patience, the time, the motivation to stick to the program and ride out the challenges.

What I enjoyed hearing from Julia is that she loves doing it. It is a lot of fun. Both Lanna and I couldn’t hide our joy in doing this very podcast. It is one of the best things I get to do each week. The other key take away was to give yourself the time to do it. Know who you want to communicate with the audience in mind and making your guests the heroes of the broadcast. These might seem to be simple concepts, but it is amazing how very few people get this right. Julia certainly does.
