"Building materials are the cornerstone of a great nation, crucial to national industrial and agricultural production and infrastructure development. Recently, the topic of 'good houses' has been gaining momentum. To meet people's demands for good houses, enterprises in the building materials industry must develop and produce high-quality materials, provide comprehensive support for the smooth promotion of these materials, and strengthen collaboration with design units and real estate construction units," said Zhang Dongzhuang, Vice President of the China Building Materials Federation, at the “Good Materials for Good Houses” themed forum on June 6.

In his speech, Zhang emphasized that contributing to good house construction with high-quality materials is the responsibility and mission of every building materials professional. He suggested several measures: ensuring the quality of materials from the source, enhancing self-discipline and guidance among suppliers; continuously improving technical skills and professional expertise to fully utilize the materials during construction; and actively promoting green building materials through initiatives like "Six Zero Green Building Materials Day" to guide consumers toward correct consumption concepts.

Wang Yeqiang, Chairman of the Real Estate Special Committee of the China Urban Economics Association and General Manager of Beijing New Building Materials Group Co., Ltd., stated in his speech that the association will uphold its commitment to serving the real economy and adhere to the “Good Materials for Good Houses” concept. He outlined the association’s focus on key areas such as industry promotion, brand cultivation, Internet+ integration, industry innovation, standardization, green development, and smart manufacturing.

Liang Hao, Director of the Green Building Development Division at the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development’s Technology and Industrialization Development Center, delivered a keynote speech titled “Empowering Good Houses with Technology.” He highlighted that good houses have long been a tangible and spiritual home for human well-being. They are a critical means for developing the housing technology industry and driving technological empowerment of the real economy. Liang outlined that the center’s "Good House·Human Settlement Technology Laboratory" focuses on industrialization, digitization, and greening, with an emphasis on low carbon, health, intelligence, and safety. The future of the building industry will shift from rapid demolition and construction to diversified high-quality development, with urban renewal and new rural construction emerging as key areas for implementing good house construction.

Wang Yeqiang also discussed China’s real estate development trends, the characteristics of good houses, and green building developments in China compared to green building evaluation standards in the U.S., U.K., and Germany. He noted that the building materials sector still faces several technical challenges, including improving safety and environmental protection, ensuring economic and sustainable use, enhancing functionality under extreme conditions, and developing multifunctional materials. In the context of the “dual carbon” goals, the demand for green building materials is driving their application. It is anticipated that with strong government support, more non-polluting, non-harmful, and non-radioactive eco-friendly materials will emerge.

Chen Ziming, Executive Chief Architect of China Zhongyuan International Engineering Co., Ltd., shared his insights on the application of new materials in key national projects in his presentation titled “Rational Building Facade Practices—Design-Oriented Application of New Materials.” He emphasized the crucial role of design units in researching and promoting new materials and technologies, and stressed that building material design should start with structural and aesthetic needs and focus on practical, economic, beautiful, and green goals.

Cao Yuanhui, head of the Standard Quality Department of the China Building Materials Federation, introduced the federation’s innovative work on industry green, low-carbon, safety, and high-quality development standards. He emphasized that good house construction requires strong standards for support, and the federation will promote mutual trust and effective alignment between building and material standards, continuously optimizing material standards to better support material selection and lifecycle management for good houses.

Ji Zhijiang, academic leader of the National Key Laboratory of Green Building Materials at the China Building Materials Academy, presented research on technologies for indoor environment decoration, high-performance functional coatings, and phase change heat storage materials. He discussed how these technologies support the construction and renovation of good houses.

Chen Peng, Executive Vice President of China Yaohua Glass Group Co., Ltd., spoke about the safety benefits of borosilicate fire-resistant glass in his report titled “Safety Glass Makes Us Safer—Borosilicate Fire-Resistant Glass Creates a Lifeline.” He noted that fire-resistant glass is widely used in buildings to prevent fire spread for a certain period, with high borosilicate fire-resistant glass offering the best performance.

Zhang Mingxuan, Assistant General Manager of Jinju New Material Industrialization Group and Director of the New Material Industry Development Promotion Center, introduced the company’s unique "research, design, manufacturing, and construction service" full industry chain advantage. He highlighted achievements in high-quality residential, prefabricated buildings, ultra-low energy consumption buildings/zero carbon buildings, and urban renewal, and emphasized the company’s commitment to advancing the industry and serving the capital's development.

Zhang Xue, Sales Director of BIPV at LONGi Green Energy Technology Co., Ltd., introduced BIPV (Building-Integrated Photovoltaics), a building material that generates electricity. BIPV features high aesthetics, strong safety, efficient installation, and stable returns, making it ideal for industrial buildings and public structures. It represents a perfect integration of green buildings with green energy and is an effective measure for carbon reduction.

Li Chuncho, Marketing Director of Luoyang North Glass Technology Co., Ltd., stressed the importance of selecting good materials for good houses. He noted that material safety, health, and greenness have become key concerns. North Glass has prioritized quality, offering innovative glass technologies and materials, such as lightweight, high-strength, and sound-insulating light crystal stones, which drew significant attention from attendees.

Gao Zhanqiang, Senior Engineer at Dongfang Yuhong Building Materials Co., Ltd., shared the company’s systematized solutions for whole-house decoration. He emphasized that good materials, when paired with good systems, result in good houses.

The forum, guided by the China Building Materials Federation and organized by China Building Materials Magazine, was part of the "Six Zero Green Building Materials Day" thematic activities. It served as a platform for promoting green and sustainable development in construction and enhancing material quality. The forum also featured two dialogue salons where guests discussed "New Materials, Supporting Green Building Material Products in Every Household" and "Precise Matching to Foster Good Interaction in the Building Material Industry Chain," fostering lively discussions and exchanges of ideas.
