Good Jobs and Equity Initiative

The Good Jobs and Equity project was launched in 2022 to help state and local governments advance job quality and workforce equity.? There are eleven communities from around the U.S. selected to participate and Hillsborough County is one of the lucky communities.
The Good Jobs and Equity initiative is supported by Training and Employment Guidance Letter (TEGL) No. 07-22.? TEGL tasks communities include increasing employer and workforce system customer access to Good Jobs.? The TEGL also defines the characteristics of a good job; explains why job quality is important; and outlines how the workforce system should integrate good job strategies into its employer partnerships and workforce training.
CSTB has developed a Job Quality Framework Statement that states, “CareerSource Tampa Bay is where talent meets opportunity.? As the local workforce development board, we connect job seekers to career advancement opportunities and employers to high-potential talent.? Our job quality framework helps job seekers identify opportunities that best fit their needs and helps employers recruit and retain top talent.? Four pillars guide our framework: Pay and Benefits, Career Training and Advancement Workplace Culture and Environment, and Employee and Family Support.” A visual representation of the framework is shown below.
Good job quality will benefit EMPLOYERS by allowing them to attract and retain top talent by using the following tools:

·?????? Business Services Engagement
·?Best Practice Forums
·?Job Quality Surveys
Good job quality will benefit JOB SEEKERS by making their job selections more structured and providing job quality information through:
·?????? Marketing
·?????? Career Services Engagement
·?????? Job Quality Workshops

Job quality is important to EMPLOYERS because job quality largely determines if workers will dislike, tolerate or love their jobs.? It will determine:
·?If they stay or leave.
·?How they perform and communicate on the job.
·?How they portray the company to friends, peers and other potential candidates.
·?What candidates are looking for in a new company and position.
·?In other words, employers can leverage job quality to attract and retain top talent.
If your company has a high employee turnover rate or you have difficulty attracting top talent, I can send you a checklist you can fill out and see how your company rates against the Job Quality Framework.? You may be strong in one of the four pillars and may need to adjust in one of the other three pillars.?
