GOOD JOBS AND GOOD COMPANIES DO EXIST

Most people complain about their jobs.??It might be a dead-end job with no advancement opportunities, it might not pay that well, or it might just not have the culture and excitement they need.??That is sad, but it doesn’t have to be that way.??There are thousands of companies that provide all of these things.??I know, because I work for one, and you can too.??I did several jobs, and was promoted several times, and was able to help form the incredible brand and culture EOTECH has today.

EOTECH new Plymouth, MI location

EOTECH started in 1996.??For years it was located in Ann Arbor, Michigan, but is now headquartered in Plymouth, Michigan with facilities in Traverse City, Michigan and Santa Clara, California.??We manufacturer high-quality, high-performance weapon optics used by militaries and law enforcement around the world, as well as hunters, home defense civilians, competitive shooters and people that just like to send rounds down range.??EOTECH really began to launch about when I started with the company, so I was in the front car of the roller coaster.??Two events happened almost at the same time that catapulted our business.??First, in 2004, the ban on assault weapons expired, opening legal purchases of AR15 style firearms to civilians.??Second, USSOCOM, our military’s elite soldiers, standardized on our Holographic Weapon Sight (HWS) for their close quarter battle (CQB) situations.??People wanted AR’s and they wanted to use what the military used, so our business exploded.

I started in 2003 and was hired as Technical Sales Support.??I was the utility infielder.??I was the low-level mob guy that got things done.??I did the dirty work for our internal sales team and helped them excel at their jobs.??This taught me a lot about the industry, our product line, and business in general.??I got my foot in the door.??At this time, we didn’t have a marketing department.??I was it.??I took on this role and started to promote the brand and its products.

For about a year, I managed our Customer Service department.??This gave me exposure to our end-users and taught me a lot about who was buying our products and why.??From there, I guess I proved myself enough where I was given a chance to manage my own sales territory.??I did this and helped build our distribution model and what are now some of our largest customers.??I had a boss that believed in me, and he promoted me to Product Manager to stand up a formal product development process.??I’ll be the first to tell you that I sucked at this job.??To excel in this role, half of your brain needs to be an engineer, and the other half a marketer.??My brain is not huge to begin with, but it’s all marketing.??So instead, I was promoted again.??Not often do you get promoted after sucking at your job, but I did.??Yeah me.??I was promoted to manage Marketing and the Product Management process, but now I would have competent and experienced Product Managers to do all the hard work.??We had a lot of success.??We advanced the holographic sight product line, introduced the magnifiers, rolled out a line of high-end rifle scopes, and positioned our brand as the premier electro-optics company in the industry.??Today, nothing has changed.??We recently introduced a pistol optic as well as a professional line of thermal imaging and night-vision products and we have a solid product road map that will drive growth for years to come.

All this to say, not every job is a dead-end job and not every company sucks to work for.??Sure, most probably do, but there are great opportunities if you look hard enough.??You can start by looking right here at EOTECH.??We have advancement opportunities, excellent benefits, good pay, and to me the most important benefit, a strong culture.??We are all like-minded individuals who believe in the brand and thrive to succeed.??They say, “If you like what you do, you never work a day in your life”.??This isn’t true at all.??It’s still work.??And you must work hard and overcome a lot of obstacles, but if the job is fun, fulfilling, and it doesn’t pain you to get out of bed each morning, you are ahead of most people.??This has been true for me throughout this whole ride, and I’m excited about the future.??If you are interested in a job or company that doesn’t suck, you should check out EOTECH.??For more information on EOTECH opportunities, visit?https://www.dhirubhai.net/company/eotech-inc/mycompany/

Good luck.
