GOOD IDEAS FROM CAROL - 116
I thought I’d write something this week about personal image.? I trained as an image consultant years ago, but I’m not going to write about how to choose clothes, colours, styles and so forth.? Instead, here are a few pointers about how your personal image can be part of your ‘brand’.
?
GOOD IDEA 1
Be aware of who you are, what your personality is and how much of yourself you want to convey in your business activities.? Do you want always to ‘be yourself’ (although is there any other option?? As the famous quote says Be yourself; everyone else is taken).? If you have to pretend to be someone or something different it’s hard work and can be deceptive.
?
GOOD IDEA 2
Consider to what extent you actually need to be your brand.? Do you need to adopt styles and colours that fit with your online and printed presence?? Do you need to demonstrate characteristics that are inherent in your brand (professional, quirky, fun, traditional etc)?
?
GOOD IDEA 3
Does everything about you that’s in the public eye need to fit your brand image??? For example your car, the background on your video calls, the drinks or snacks you carry with you? ?

GOOD IDEA 4
Do you want your ‘personal branding’ to be immediately obvious, or do you want it to emerge more gradually as you interact with people?
?
GOOD IDEA 5
Do you want to demonstrate your branding by avoiding things that don’t fit with it?? For example, not being seen at events that could conflict with your values (eg a fast-food exhibition if your ethos is healthy living).
?
I’m sure there’s lots more to be said about this and I’d be delighted if you joined in the discussion.
