Good Health Is A Girl's Best Friend
March is Women's History Month. A month to pay tribute to women who play multiple roles in their lives - as partners, parents, daughters, and professionals - with great élan. In the midst of all these roles, it is easy to neglect your own health. However, taking care of yourself is critical for your overall well-being, happiness, and productivity. After all, you can’t pour from an empty cup!?
We wanted to take the opportunity to remind you of the importance of prioritizing your health (Women's History Month and beyond) and share three things you can do to take better care of yourself:?
Prioritize mental health: With the demands of work, relationships, and parenthood, it is easy to get stressed out. But chronic stress can lead to depression, anxiety, and other mental health issues which in turn can manifest physically by way of blood pressure issues, heart related ailments, hormonal fluctuations and weight gain. Make it a priority to take care of your mental health. Whether it's through meditation, exercise, therapy, or spending time with friends, take time for yourself. You deserve it.
Get enough sleep: Did you know that India is the second most sleep deprived country in the world? With busy schedules, it can be tempting to stay up late to finish work or squeeze in all the other tasks you couldn’t fit in during the day, like errands you didn’t have time for or even just scrolling through social media or catching up with TV shows. However, sleep is crucial to your health. Lack of sleep can lead to anxiety, mood swings, fatigue, memory impairment, and a number of other health problems. Rest is vital for your well-being. Aim to get at least 7-8 hours of sleep every night.

Schedule regular check-ups: It is easy to neglect your health when you don't experience any symptoms. However, preventive care is critical to detect and treat health issues early on, especially for women. The WHO states that breast and cervical cancers are the leading causes of women's ill health, and these are just two problems where early detection and preventive care can save lives. Schedule regular check-ups with not only your general physician, but also your ob-gyn and dentist, and don't hesitate to seek medical attention if you experience any concerning symptoms.
We understand that taking care of one’s health can be challenging, especially for women because you’re always working - whether it’s at home or at the office. But we encourage you to prioritize your health, and that's not just because you play all these multiple roles in your life. Your health is your most valuable asset, and taking care of it will help you be the best, happiest version of yourself. And that’s worth the effort!?
